DANIEL ORUWHONE

Daniel Oruwhone is an African artist, draughtsman, and painter.

He paints figurative works, which juxtapose classical and contemporary philosophy drawn from history and his diverse life experiences. "My work is an investigation on contrast and form, playing with opposites, actualizing old masters' techniques to shape ideas into lyrical and dramatic pieces, by combining the old and new with a sense of humor."

His works also question the viewers' perception and explore themes of sexuality and historical nostalgia.

Oruwhone was born in Afon Waterside, Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, grew up in Lagos, and currently lives and works in Delta State. He received his National Diploma in Art and Design from The Polytechnic of Ibadan, in 2017, and was featured at Scope Miami, USA, in 2021.
